Ok ok! Lemme think.
eerrrmmm........
OK, i watched Lost in Translation today!
firstly, i must mention that this is the movie i've been waiting for months! I actually saw the movie being advertised by some deviant in deviantart, and so i went to the sites to check the movie out, and by the time it's gonna be released in Singapore, expectations had blown sky-high.
So is it any surprise that i'm disappointed?
hahha, not really.....all in all, in hindsight, it's PROBABLY a very good movie. It's jsut that i'm waiting for more punchlines, more emotions, more heartwrenching moments that didn't come, because that's what not the movie is about. And so did the nuggets of life's truths, the sad melancholy of pointless life.......all these were not in huge abundance.
But only afterwards, which is about now, while i'm writing this, that i realise that whatever point the movie is trying to make, is slolwly filtering to me right this instant. It's insidious, i tell you.
The movie dealt quite well on alienation, on loneliness, about degrading relationships. Things so commonplace, sometimes it's scary. And soulmates.
And doing something you feel you must do. It's really an impulse movie. It's like, shouting at you, come on, pick up your life now.
It's DEFINITELY a great movie.
Frankly, the girl in the movie didn't blow me off. She is too normal, a plain jane, i'm hardly attracted to her. But the butt shot of her at the start did stir my loins quite a bit. Bill Murray on the other hand, is hilarious. I dun see how any girls would not want his company.
And Japan is somehow depicted so beautiful. and pure.
you will know what i mean when you watch it.
Favourite line of the movie?
Bill Murray, aka Bob Harris was talking to his wife over the long distance call, and their conversation had declined to exasperation, those 'oh, there's really nothing to say after this many years' kinda conversations, and Bill Murray confessed, as i know i would have, to saying that he wants to change his life. To eat healthier, to live happier, and everything.....
and the woman at the other end of the line paused a while.....she must have been thinking that is nothing wrong with his life right now, and must have been feeling a bit apprehensive , and so she said ' come on Bob, does that mean i have to worry about you now?'
Bob is silent for a while.
"Only if you want to."
ouch.

Thanks for the
hope to see you soon
cheers
Olivier

Actually it's darkness. I don't know what I'm scared of.
